Angela Hurt

Veracity Consulting, Inc
Founder & CEO

Angela Hurt is founder and chief executive officer of Veracity Consulting, Inc.

Hurt oversees the strategic direction and management of the Kansas City-based tech consulting group. With roughly 140 team members across the United States and Canada, Veracity team is comprised of insanely curious people who fuse technology, processes and humanity to improve business performance. As seekers of knowledge and truth, they study, analyze, and survey. The team uncovers details and learns from the world around them and harness curiosity to find answers.

Hurt founded Veracity Consulting in 2006 on the idea of a clearly articulated mission: to bridge the gap between business and technology. As Hurt considered how to personify this mission in her daily business, she committed to grow her company by employing those who shared her values. Her aim is for everyone — clients and employees — to discover throughout the process, find assurance in our approach, and recognize opportunity, so each can achieve their fullest potential. Veracity advances the idea that truth should underlie all solutions and by harnessing and elevating truth, create strong foundations that withstand.

Prior to 2006, Hurt served in a business development capacity for various IT consulting firms on the East Coast and in the Midwest. These firms specialized in IT standards and processes, work force solutions and management consulting.

Hurt is the past chair of the board of directors of American Indian Enterprise Business Council, current vice-chair of the Women’s Employment Network (WEN), advisory board member for WIN for KC, and a board member of the Enterprise Center of Johnson County and UMKC Women’s Center.

Service and people matter to Hurt and are key to the growth of her company. Healthier businesses produce smarter people which build stronger communities. As a result, Veracity intentionally fosters a culture of giving. Community is our cause. The Veracity team works day in and day out to make it stronger, smarter, better. Hurt feels that businesses are the pillars of community.

To that end, Veracity gives a percentage of profit back to the community in which team members live and work; and provides additional paid time off for community engagement and volunteerism. Hurt also focuses her personal philanthropy in the KC metro area where she most recently served as co-chair for the 2016 GoRed luncheon and 2017 WEN luncheon, raising over $1.5 million for the greater KC community.

Accolades include the 2011 class of Women Who Mean Business and a 2011 25 Under 25 award winner. In 2013, she was honored as the Woman-Owned Business of the Year for Professional Services by the State of Kansas. She has been voted Kansas City Rising Star, KC’s Influential Woman and Champions of Business, along with her company, Veracity Consulting, as a Top 10 Small Business of the Year and consecutive years on the TechWeek100 list.

A native of Kansas, Hurt holds a bachelor’s of science degree in computer information systems from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Her son, a recent graduate of Shawnee Mission West, is taking a page from his mother’s playbook and is spending his first college semester abroad to do humanitarian work.
